The NEST Framework

NEST NYTH

The NEST Framework is a plan to help Regional Partnership Boards create better mental health and support services for babies, kids, teens, parents, carers, and their families in Wales.

It was made by the Together for Children and Young People (T4CYP2) network and many other people.

We want to change the idea that only special services can help. These services are important, but there's a lot more we can do to support people.

Our goal is to make expert advice easier to get and to help the adults closest to kids understand how they can help.

When extra help is needed, we want to make sure families get the right help at the right time, no matter where they go for it.

The NEST Framework was created with input from young people, parents, carers, and staff in schools and children's services all over Wales, like teachers, social workers, nurses, doctors, therapists, and youth workers. We also talked to people in adult services, housing, police, ambulance, sports, and leisure services, as well as government and health boards.

The NYTH NEST framework is built around six key themes:

  • Trusted adults: Having grown-ups you can trust.
  • Wellbeing across education: Feeling good and healthy at school.
  • Co-produced innovations: New ideas made together with others.
  • Easy access to expertise: Getting expert help quickly.
  • Safe and supportive communities: Living in places where you feel safe and supported.
  • No wrong door: Getting the right help no matter where you ask.
