Housing services and support in Gwent
Appropriate housing
Appropriate housing is housing that is suitable for those living in it, supporting residents to live well in their communities in a home that is safe, has the necessary amenities such as water and energy, and is affordable and accessible. Having an appropriate home can have a positive affect on mental and physical health and is important in supporting people to live well for as long as possible.
What is rapid rehousing?
Each Local Authority in Gwent has a rapid rehousing plan, aiming to support them to ensure that for those who experience homelessness, it is rare, brief and un-repeated, and people are supported into a settled home as quickly as possible. These plans make sure that support around individuals at risk of homelessness, or experiencing homelessness, is holistic, making sure they have the right support at the right time, from the right organisation.
Do you need housing support?
The Housing Support Grant is provided to Local Authorities from Welsh Government to help to prevent homelessness, and support people to access a suitable home. If you need support to access appropriate housing, or are at risk of homelessness, you can contact your Local Gateway team for support
